Panel and Networking Dinner! (Sponsored by Hofstra University's Career Center)

Welcome to our first panel of the conference! Immediately following, we will have a Network Dinner with Hofstra Graduates, who are now Professionals in the Music Industry.

  • The Rockstars Behind The Curtain”- Learn first hand from managers, entertainment lawyers, business managers, and booking agents about what they do for their artists. You’ll learn what makes an artist successful in today’s fast-paced industry and how to stick out from the clutter. ​

• Who Does Marketing?

  • Come meet all different areas in the broad and vast network of marketing.  Meet people from publicity, radio Promotion, Streaming, and Branding! ​

• Syncing Up- The Relationship of Music and Media

  • What would your favorite movie be like without its killer soundtrack?  Would that one TV show feel the same without its signature theme song? Music and visual media go hand in hand, but rarely do audiences know what goes on behind the screens.  Artists, music supervisors, publishers, and more will let you in on the processes of sync and licensing, turning ideas into iconic visual and audible moments.​

• The A&R Ear

  • Learn what A&R reps listen for when searching for unsigned artists/writers to sign, as a panel of A&R reps will give real honest feedback on tracks played throughout the panel.  ​

• Imagination → Creation

  • How does a simple beat, lyric or melody turn into a hit song? Learn from professional audio engineers about how they handle the music creation process; brace yourselves for transparent advice about challenging collaborations, along with a conversational overview about how to record, produce, mix, master music.  ​
